Pilot Rock Real Estate.  Pilot Rock, located about 13 miles South of Pendleton on HWY 395.  In the early days, the thrust for gold was the driving forces that lead to the creation of the community.  The area began to develop into a community around 1862 and the post office was established in 1868.  Pilot Rock was platted in 1876 and was later incorporated in 1912.  Today, the main economy for Pilot Rock is farming/ranching, along with the wood product industry.  Pilot Rock has a very nice school system that has strong community support.   The city has a population of about 1,600.  The annual rain fall is about 14 inches of rain with the hottest month being in July and the coldest month in January.  The elevation of Pilot Rock is 1,636 feet above sea level.  The average tax rate for Pilot Rock is $2.90 per $1,000 dollar of the assessed property value. Pilot Rocks economy consists of a local mill, ranching and farming.  There is also great pheasant and chukar opportunities in the area.

Pilot Rock is known for its annual Fourth of July Freedom Festival.  You will find live entertainment, games, vendors, and a luau that has fun for the whole family.  The city park is very popular with birch creek running through it.
